Chinese startup focused on artificial intelligence in an effort to transform better benchmark performance into a high-end flagship product, DeepSeek formally unveiled its V4 Pro model on Thursday, pricing it several times higher than its V4 Flash variant.

Artificial Analysis, an impartial benchmarking organization, reports that DeepSeek’s V4-Pro-0813 costs $1.32 per million input tokens and $3.96 per million output tokens.

That amounts to roughly nine times the input cost and fourteen times the output cost of V4 Flash, which Artificial Analysis lists at $0.14 and $0.28, respectively.

According to DeepSeek, the V4-Pro-0813 significantly enhances its capabilities for AI agents and is accessible via its online, app, and API solutions.

Additionally, the company announced that it will implement peak and off-peak pricing and increase API price for its V4 Pro and V4 Flash variants.

After DeepSeek’s V4 Flash model, which was introduced last month, unexpectedly surpassed an April preview version of V4 Pro in multiple independent tests, the pricing places a greater premium on the company’s top model.

That was remarkable because Pro is meant to be the company’s more competent solution, indicating that DeepSeek had made significant technological advancements between the official debut and the preview release.

According to independent findings, the official V4 Pro release is a significant improvement.

The reasoning version of V4 Pro received a score of 53 on Artificial Analysis’s Intelligence Index, whereas V4 Flash received a score of 40.

Evaluations of nine characteristics, including agentic job tasks, tool use, coding, scientific reasoning, and long-context performance, are combined in the index.

After its R1 model went viral in early 2025, DeepSeek became one of China’s most carefully followed AI businesses, prompting concerns about whether powerful AI systems might be developed at a significantly lower cost than those of competitors in the United States.

Since then, a number of releases from Chinese rivals like Moonshot AI, Zhipu AI, MiniMax, Alibaba, and ByteDance have challenged its early lead.
