The emergence of the consumer electronic brand boAt in India can now be told inseparably with Aman Gupta, his co founder and mastermind of the brand. Since its inception way back in 2016, boAt has grown to become a poster case of what the Indian Direct to Consumer (D2C) boom, backed by digital first and influencer ecosystems, and youth centric pricing, looks like.

His position as Chief Marketing Officer has played a central role since he used social media, e commerce and early stage manufacturing relationships as a platform to make audio gadgets a lifestyle accessory to millions of students and young professionals in tier 2 cities and tier 3 cities. Outside of boAt, Gupta skyrocketed his profile after becoming an investor in Shark Tank India where his valuation based approaches and faith in India first brands attracted national attention.

His initial bet of 12 lakh rupees in a small snack brand, Let’s Try, had grown in value to around 40 crore later becoming headline news as one of the most successful bets of the show, and a key part of his reputation as a contrarian and yet disciplined investor. Gupta now promotes MSME innovation, local manufacturing under the brand Make in India and local brands capable of competing with global giants in terms of design and digital presence through Shark Tank appearances and public talks.
