Muse Image Joins the Visual Race: To Boost Subscriber and Marketer Engagement Meta Unveils Creative AI Tools

Muse Image, is what Meta calls its new artificial intelligence model designed to generate graphics and which it released on Tuesday. Through this release, the company aims to attract online creators and corporate advertisers to its growing ecosystem. Originally codenamed Mango, this technology marks the second major product from Meta Superintelligence Labs under the leadership of Alexandr Wang. His team previously introduced the Muse Spark large language model in April to succeed the Llama family of models.

Consumers can access Muse Image for free via the Meta AI app, the web, WhatsApp direct messages, and Instagram Stories. However, power users and creators must buy a monthly subscription to generate large volumes of pictures or access specialized premium features. Once a consumer hits their free limit, they can either purchase a Meta One plan or wait for a monthly reset. For businesses, Muse Image will power new creative tools inside Meta’s Advantage Plus service. This integration helps brands automate routine marketing tasks and quickly build unique advertising campaigns. Meta confirms that the software brings native reasoning to the creative process, allowing advertisers to swap styles and adjust specific visual elements with fewer iterations.

These monetization efforts show how Meta wants to expand beyond traditional ad revenue to offset its massive infrastructure spending. Rivals like OpenAI and Alphabet previously secured a head start in the market. Google’s Nano Banana model became a major consumer hit last autumn. Internal benchmark tests show that Muse Image trails OpenAI’s latest GPT Image 2 model but successfully beats the Nano Banana 2 model at complex editing tasks.

Previously, the social media giant relied on third-party technologies like Midjourney and Black Forest Labs to power its visual features. Meta plans to use its proprietary software to phase out these external dependencies. Furthermore, the technical team plans to debut an automated video generator called Muse Video later this year. Meta will also expand Muse Image to Facebook, Messenger, and other regional app features over the coming months.
