South Korea’s Central Region Slated for $90 Billion Electronics Expansion by Samsung Group

In a very good news for the South Korea, Samsung Group detailed a massive plan to invest 140 trillion won, which equals ninety billion dollars, to boost the production of display panels, batteries, chips, and semiconductor materials in the central province of Chungcheong. This sweeping initiative fits into a broader corporate funding strategy that the conglomerate rolled out earlier in the week. Samsung Display Chief Executive Officer Yi Chung provided the specific breakdowns during a high-profile industry event hosted by South Korean President Lee Jae Myung on Thursday.

The investment spreads across several core business divisions to solidify the country’s technology leadership. Samsung Display will spend sixty-seven trillion won across the cities of Asan and Cheonan to upgrade its advanced manufacturing hubs. Concurrently, Samsung Electronics will inject fifty-six trillion won into Onyang and Cheonan to construct state-of-the-art packaging facilities specifically designed for high-bandwidth memory chips, a critical component for modern computing systems.

Other key subsidiaries are committing significant long-term capital as well. Samsung SDI plans to spend nine trillion won by 2040 in Cheonan. The division will use these funds to drive research, development, and the mass production of next-generation batteries. At the same time, Samsung Electro-Mechanics will invest eight trillion won by 2040 in the city of Sejong. This capital will fund the manufacture of advanced semiconductor packaging materials tailored for artificial intelligence servers, while the company simultaneously works to nurture and develop domestic technical talent in the region.

This coordinated multi-billion-dollar push arrives at a critical juncture as global competition for artificial intelligence infrastructure and advanced hardware manufacturing intensifies. By clustering these massive production lines and research facilities within the central province of Chungcheong, Samsung Group aims to build a highly integrated supply chain that can respond rapidly to changing market demands. The scale of this corporate commitment alters the economic trajectory of the entire region, signaling how deeply the firm intends to anchor its future technological breakthroughs within its home market.
